From NYC with (a few) things
My favorite things I packed and found— and, the toiletries I always bring on a trip
I am a notorious under-packer, and my quick 2-night trip to New York last week was no exception. When traveling to a city that has literally everything, I find comfort in knowing that if I forget something, it’s the easiest place to fill in the gaps. My only set plans were one dinner and one concert, which left plenty of time to bop around and shop.
I’m a T-shirt and jeans girl at heart, so I keep things simple. I intentionally left space in my suitcase to find something new for the concert — and I did (Aritzia Regal Vest & Limitless Pants)
Things I packed:
My carry-on suitcase is perfect for a (very) short trip. It’s compact, easy to roll, and opens with satisfying snaps instead of a zipper. A great price and great quality, but definitely best for just a couple nights away.

Everyday bag— A slightly-too-casual fanny pack that reminds me of the ‘90s in the best way. Despite its neutrality, it made every outfit feel just a bit undone — which I liked. Bonus, its currently on sale (I have the color “Grey Moonbeam”, though it pulls more cream than grey).
My travel toiletry must-haves:

One thing I never compromise on is my skincare routine. A sheet mask for the night after a flight, lots of serums, oils, balms and facial sprays are my must haves to offset the harsh airplane air. All linked above :)
“The Collected Regrets of Clover” saved the day on my flight when they announced the wifi was not working. Its an unexpected story about a death doula (you read that right. A doula who instead of shepherding into this life, assists those who are passing out of this life) that was surprisingly tender, and the book itself was a quick, thoughtful read.
Things I found:
Fishs Eddy was a magical discovery we found while strolling the Flatiron District— shelves full of mismatched plates and cheeky dinnerware. If I had more room in my suitcase, I would’ve brought home an entire place setting. One day, when we have our NYC studio apartment (a dream), I’ll stock the kitchen from here. I bought a “Dog Person” linen tote as I can never have too many.
A belt I’ve been searching for I’ve had my eye out for a western-style leather belt with brass details, so when I stumbled on the last one in my size in Aritzia, I jumped on it.
Espresso beans have become one of my favorite souveniers. I mentioned in this post that our Espresso Machine is the gift that keeps on giving. I made it a point to stop at Porto Rico Importing Co., one of my favorite West Village spots.

I leave for France this week and plan to be mostly offline while I’m there. I’ll be soaking up all the inspiration Provence has to offer and can’t wait to share when I return.
